CORE BELIEFS

The Bible

The Holy Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the God-breathed and authoritative Word of God without error in the original writings. It is the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and is completely relevant to everyday life.

Matthew 5:18; II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21

God

There is one God, who is indivisible, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and has revealed Himself to us as Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, is completely God and completely man. He died on the cross, becoming the complete and ultimate sacrifice for our sins according to the Holy Scriptures. He defeated death in His resurrection, arose with all power, and is seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High.

Matthew 1:21; Mark 14:62; John 1:1,14; Colossians 1: 15-18

Man

Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Genesis 1:26-30; 2:7,18-22; Psalm 32:1-5; 51:5; Isaiah 6:5; Romans 3: 23; 5:6; 1 Corinthians 15:19, 21-22; Ephesians 2; Colossians 1:21-22; 3:9-11

Salvation

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation for all who believe and only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith and are born of the Holy Spirit. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.

Isaiah 53:5-6; 55:7; Matthew 5:24; 27:22-66; 28:1-6; Acts 2:21; 4:12; 16:30-31; Romans 5:8-10; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20; Ephesians 2:8-10; Hebrews 9:24-28

Baptism

We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of Jesus Christ as a testimony of death to sin and resurrection to a new life.

Matthew 28: 19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, to empower the believer for Godly living and service. We believe in speaking in other tongues and the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:4, 39; 10:44-46; 19:6; Romans 12:8-10; Ephesians 4:11

Eternity

Man will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or eternally joined with God through salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally joined with Him is Heaven. Heaven is the eternal dwelling place for all believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:3, 20; 6:20; 19:21; 25:34; John 3:16, 36; 17:24; Romans 6:23; II Corinthians 5:1; I Peter 1:4;1 John 5:11-13; Revelation 20:15

The Church

The church is the Body of Christ, made up of all believers who are
born of the Spirit. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the Gospel to the world.

Matthew 16:18-19; Hebrews 10:25; I Peter 2:9

Marriage

We believe marriage is defined in the Bible as a covenant, a sacred bond between one born man and one born woman, instituted by and publicly entered into before God.

Matthew 19:4-6
