The Praying Christian

Prayer is one of the most essential parts of our Christian walk with God. It is through devoted prayer life that we truly cultivate a transformative connection with Him. 

We may pray for many different reasons: to hear God’s voice, seek forgiveness and discernment, or to simply express gratitude. Above all else, we pray to create a deeper intimacy with God. The intimacy of prayer creates a sacred space we can use to draw closer to God and allow Him to draw nearer to us. Through consistent, honest, and vulnerable prayer our bond with the Creator is strengthened.

A praying Christian is not defined by perfection. There is no perfect way to pray to God. He is not looking for a performance: He is seeking connection. A praying Christian is defined by sincerity, consistency, and a heart that longs for God. When you choose a disciplined prayer life you are choosing closeness with Him. That closeness transforms everything. But how do we draw closer to God through prayer?

When you pray invite Him in. This means opening your heart fully to reveal all its contents to Him, and to speak with vulnerability to allow the Holy Spirit to move within you. Approach your father with conviction, love, reverence, longing, truth, and humility. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your words with no pressure or performance.

Some simple yet powerful ways to begin your prayers include:

To deepen your prayer life, prioritize intentional time with God. Set aside moments in your day to speak with Him - whether to offer thanks, make a simple request, or even talk to Him like a trusted friend. He is not only your protector, provider, father, but also your companion. Create a rhythm and implement a successful plan to spend time in His presence. 

Five minutes a day can then grow into five times a day with commitment. Your prayer life will expand, and you will feel the connection between you and God become more profound.
